Deepika Padukone Not Dropped from Kalki 2: Sources Deny Rumours of Fallout

Rumors have been circulating that Deepika Padukone has been dropped from the highly anticipated film Kalki 2, but sources close to the project have firmly denied these claims. The recent online buzz suggested a fallout between Deepika and the film’s team, including co-star Prabhas, but insiders have dismissed these reports as “completely baseless.”
In reality, Kalki 2 has yet to begin filming. According to reliable sources, the sequel is still in its pre-production stage, and no official casting decisions have been finalized. “Actors haven’t even been approached yet because the project is still in development,” one source told NDTV, refuting the idea that Deepika was dropped due to any on-set disagreements. Another insider added, “There has been no shooting, no interaction, and therefore no fallout.”
This speculation seems to stem from previous reports about Deepika’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Spirit. Rumors had claimed Deepika demanded shorter work hours, a higher salary, and a share in profits—conditions that reportedly didn’t sit well with the director. Vanga also posted cryptic messages on X (formerly Twitter) criticizing actors seeking “luxury,” which many interpreted as a veiled reference to Deepika.
The situation intensified when Triptii Dimri, celebrated for her performance in Animal, was announced as the lead in Spirit. Her confirmation on Instagram shortly after Deepika’s rumored exit led many to believe the actress had been replaced.
As for Kalki 2, no such decisions have been made. While rumors continue to circulate, Deepika’s participation in the film remains unconfirmed and unsupported by any official statement.
For now, one thing is clear: without a shoot, there’s no drama.
